Introduction

This scenario shows the importance of personalized learning, a concept that aims to provide a more tailored education for every learner. The video illustrates how mobile devices can be used to differentiate in a classroom setting. By choosing their own activities the learners remain engaged and motivated.

Objectives of this scenario:

  • To encourage teachers who are not familiar with digital learning to use mobile devices in the classroom.
  • To illustrate how to personalize a traditional task with the support of mobile technology.

Description of the learning scenario

Mobile devices enable students to learn at their own pace and at their own level. They  are allowed to choose their own activities and apps (Customization) within the given topic. This helps to take responsibility for their own learning process (Agency).

Impact of the learning scenario on students

  • Use their creativity to do regular tasks
  • Practice different skills (mindmapping, making presentations, presenting their findings, collaborating)
  • By offering multiple authentic sources, they have access to a wider range of vocabulary
  • They take more pleasure in learning
