Getting to grips with the iPAC sub-constructs

The sub constructs lie at the heart of the iPAC framework since they bridge the gap between theory and practice. Each of the principal constructs consists of the sub constructs shown below.  The sub constructs act as way of measuring or evaluating the use of mobile technologies in a learning context. Each sub construct consists of a simple binary that enables the constructs to be laid out along a continuum. This is explained more fully in the video below

An Introduction to the Sub Constructs of the iPAC framework

The sub constructs and their binaries

Each of the sub constructs can be used to evaluate or measure how students are using mobile technologies in any particular learning activity. This is done by placing each sub construct along a continuum with binaries at each end. This forms a measurement tool enabling users to judge if a particular mobile learning activity is weak or strong in this aspect.

To make the measurement tool practical we have developed a series of survey instruments that consists of short questions related to each sub constructs. The video opposite explains, in greater detail, how the binaries and continua for each of the sub constructs works. Further details and explanations about each of the individual sub constructs can be found by clicking the buttons below.
